Internship

Would your students like an internship experience that is not only educational but enjoyable? Historic Cold Spring Village may be able to help. We are seeking interested undergraduate and graduate students majoring in history, curatorial/museum studies or marketing/public relations. Interns will work alongside our professional staff on a variety of vital projects.

Educational Programs

Historic Cold Spring Village has a variety of educational programs which provide educators with the opportunity to enable students to experience history outside the class room.

Distance Learning

The “Visit From the Past” series of programs are available for Distance Learning. The presentations are offered from Monday through Friday between October 1st and April 30th. Please choose several dates as the schedule fills up quickly.

School Visits

While visiting eight to ten historic buildings students will gain first-hand exposure to life as it was for our ancestors of the early 19th century. Included in their visit, students will meet with a blacksmith, potter, basketweaver, school teacher as well as visit the wood shop, Country Store and Ice Cream Parlor.

Cost: The cost is $5 per person for Cape May County schools, $6 per person for schools from outside the county. One teacher or chaperone is admitted free for every 10 students.

Please contact Jim Stephens, HCSV Education Coordinator, at (609) 898-2300, ext. 17, or by e-mail at jstephens@hcsv.org

Village Kids

Historic Cold Spring Village Summer Camp

Sponsored by Bank of America

Village Kids is a unique educational program, which incorporates dressing up in period clothes, crafts, games, and activities for children ages 7 – 11 years old.

Ten sessions take place from 1pm - 4pm on Thursday and Friday afternoons in July.

Children may sign up for a minimum of 2 sessions, up to a maximum of 10.

Two experienced camp leaders work with the children the first hour, playing games and sharing activities. After putting on period costumes over their summer clothing the camp makes a field trip into the Village to visit with one of our interpreters. During their trip back in time, the children learn more about the day’s topic, explore the interpreter’s building and take part in a hands-on activity. To finish the day, campers make a craft that relates to the topic and take their project home.
